Yesterday was a hard day for my Mita. Everyone has hard days of course, but some of us have a not-so-happy past that likes to rear it’s ugly head on especially bad days. These hard days are becoming fewer and farther in between, but still are HARD.
My Mita like sparkly things, chap-stick, lipgloss and glitter. She is a girly-girl for sure. I ‘ve never been accused of being a girly-girl I must say. When she was upset I rocked her, hugged her, told her how much we loved her. All of that did make an impact and she did relax and go off to play with her sisters. She was going to be okay.
Then, I let her use my nail polish. The girls were giving Hubby and I a spa treatment. It sounds nice, and is very sweet, but it ends up being pure torture with nail brushes, cold hands and ice cold wet wash rags. We endure it because watching all four of them work so hard together to make us happy is priceless and something so beautiful to watch.
Mita came alive with the nail polish, she was smiling happy, huggy and lovey. It clearly made her happy. I started to re-think my “age-appropriate” colors and just marveled at how much a bit of polish could bring out the best in her. I let them all paint their nails and paint my toe-nails and went to bed thinking I should buy more girly things for my Mita.
Then I woke up and saw glittering lip gloss all over the hall closet door. It reminded me why I limit such beauty products. So we are not going to turn our home into a sparkly, make over house as I dreamed of last night. But I did let them go to school with painted nails that look less than perfect and are not age-appropriate. Oh well! The smiles are worth it!

Here is my You Capture this week. I Should Be Folding Laundry had a Photographer’s Choice this week, I thought I’d show you these beautifully painted nails for my photo!
