I’ve been watching ABC Family (not family-oriented with most of their shows btw, the advertisements alone make me blush and cover my kids ears) the last few nights.  They are playing the Harry Potter movies with the TV premier of Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince this weekend.  Hubby is gone of to Washington DC  with Meg and Mita and I have the younger two in bed by 8.  So I sit alone doing odds and ends, folding laundry, cutting coupons and watching Harry Potter.  The more I watch them the happier I am that Meg has always admired Hermione.  She rocks. She is super smart, cute but not overdone, funny and honest.

Meg went as Hermione for Halloween at least three years in a row. Two times in robes and once in the Yule Ball gown I got off Ebay.  I have the gown in my closet, it is too memorable to put in the dress up trunk.  I don’t know if I will ever get rid of that one!

Are you attached to one of your child’s heros?

  1. We were watching HP on ABC Family last night too! I agree it is not at all family oriented with its shows but do let the kids watch HP and then scream “MUTE THE COMMERCIALS” or make them leave the room!:-) We also watched the final movie (Hubby has a bad habit of ruining his birthday surprises – I had to give it to him early to keep him from running to WalMart to buy it last night!). Leo mentioned Meg, comparing her to Hermione and commenting on her love of the HP series more than once.

  2. I love HP (already bought the final movie) and Hermione, so I’m with your kiddo :) She’s a great hero to look up to!

  3. She would be thrilled with the comparison Ann Marie!

  4. Thanks for reading!

  5. I know I’m way behind the rest of the world…but I just started reading the Harry Potter books a few months ago. (I know! Crazy!) I really love Hermione. She is a great character.

My daughter loves the American Girl books and I’m pretty attached to them, too.

  6. My soon to be 14 yr old really liked Hermoine, and yet when she was allowed to read the Twilight series last year, did not like the lead, Bella. Hermoine is strong and smart and she identified with her … Bella not so much.
i was very proud of her ;)

  7. We are American Girl fans in this house as well! The books are timeless. Thanks for reading.

  8. Bella vs. Hermione …. maybe that will be my next post! Thanks for the thought!

  9. I LOVE Hermione! I wish I’d caught some HP on this weekend. I’ve been dying to rewatch the series, and I just saw them on, but my hubby isn’t on-board with watching them tonight.

  10. We share a love of all things Harry Potter so it’s a resounding yes for me! :) It’s been an Harry Potter weekend here, too.

  12. My son is only 4 but I silently mourn a little when he’s no longer enamored with Buzz Lightyear or Spider-Man. Because I still am!
